Fixing > Grout

The gap between two mosaics performs a specific technical function, and must be correctly proportioned. In PALLDIO mosaics it is ~ 1 mm in normal sheet of 2x2 cm mosaics. Gaps provide the tiled surface with the necessary elasticity to compensate expansion caused by heat and moisture, which could cause tension between the tiles and the substrate over time.

Grouts are available in many colours. Use of coloured grouts can also enhance the overall appearance of the tiled surface.

The Grout that you select should be in fine powder form, single component, have excellent hardness, UV-resistant, frost resistant and above all should have excellent workability.

Please follow following steps for mixing and using grout:-

  1. Mix grout with 35% clean water until a smooth paste is obtained. The mixture must be lump-free and have perfectly uniform colour.
  2. The surface to be grouted must be perfectly clean; gaps and adjoining surfaces must be free of excess adhesive.
  3. In warm weather, it is best to slightly dampen tile surface before beginning grouting. However, please remember that, excessive water in the gaps can generate a number of problems.
